Hard work in the classroom and a little fun outside of it. Over the past year, our 4th-year apprentice, AJ, has earned well-deserved recognition from the IEC of Greater St. Louis. He was named Apprentice of the Month for his hard work in the classroom and, most recently, took home Top Apprentice at the annual IEC Clay Shoot.
At Rolwes Electric, we believe the people doing the work are the foundation of everything we build for our customers across Wentzville and greater St. Charles County. AJ’s recognition is a great reminder of what that looks like in practice, and we are proud of him.
Recognition Earned in the Classroom and at the Clay Shoot
AJ’s year has included two honors from the IEC of Greater St. Louis, the trade association that runs the apprenticeship program he is part of.
Apprentice of the Month: awarded for his hard work in the classroom. Apprentices balance a full-time job with evening studies, so earning this recognition takes consistency and commitment.
Top Apprentice at the IEC Clay Shoot: the annual IEC event brings apprentices and contractors together outside of work. AJ earned top apprentice honors, proof that he brings the same focus to the range that he brings to the job site.
We are proud of AJ and all he continues to accomplish. Keep up the great work!
What Is the IEC Apprenticeship?
The IEC of Greater St. Louis offers a structured training pathway for people who want a career in the electrical industry. According to program information, apprentices work full-time for their contractor, learning on the job under experienced electricians, and attend classroom and hands-on instruction in the evenings. The program typically runs about four years, and IEC apprenticeship programs are registered with the U.S. Department of Labor.
Along the way, apprentices study electrical theory, safety practices, and code compliance, then apply it every day in the field. Graduates move on to become journeyman electricians.
AJ is in his fourth year, which means he has already put in years of work on both sides of the program: on the job and in the classroom.

We also support the IEC of Greater St. Louis, where we are members, because strong training programs strengthen the whole trade in our region.
